Well wishers are invited to visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum to make get-well cards for President Carter and birthday cards for Rosalynn Carter.

The card-making will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby at 441 Freedom Parkway.

Rosalynn Carter will turn 88 on Tuesday.

The event celebrating her birthday was planned before President Carter, 90, announced that he had cancer.

Organizers decided to let visitors also make get well cards for the president. There will also be a book for people to leave messages to him, said Sylvia Naguib, museum curator.

“There was such an outpouring of support on social media that we wanted to give people an opportunity to express their feelings,” said Tony Clark, public affairs director for the library and museum.

The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. for people to sign the book. Visitors will be able to sign the book after Saturday, although an exact ending date has not been determined.
