Family fun, a special treat for the cinephile and more will be underway this weekend in North Fulton:
Chukkar Farm T.G.I.F. concert series: Chukkar Farm hosts a concert every third Friday from now until October as part of its T.G.I.F. concert series. This weekend, take it back to the 1970s and 80s with The Jeff Pike Band. Take a lawn chair and picnic basket, and enjoy some classic rock and reggae under the stars.
The concert will be held on 8 p.m. Friday, July 15. General admission is $15 and is filled on a first come, first served basis. You can also pay for reserved seating (tables and chairs provided). Admission: $40 for a table for two, $75 for a table for four, $110 for a table for six and $145 for a table seating eight. Chukkar Farm is located at 1140 Liberty Grove Road, Alpharetta.
Atlanta Shortsfest: Enjoy a weekend of short films during the 7th annual Atlanta Shortsfest, being held Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16. The festival will feature a diverse mix of short films by filmmakers from around the world. Genres include comedy, animation, experimental, horror and sci-fi, fantasy, documentary, drama, action, adventure and more.
The festival will be located at the Synchronicity Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the box office 30 minutes prior to each screening. Tickets cost $5 per program with a valid student ID, $7 for general admission, $20 for a day pass and $30 for a two-day pass. Visit the website for the film schedule and other information. Roswell Family Movie Series: Take the kids to Riverside Park this weekend and enjoy a free screening of the animated film, "The Good Dinosaur." There will also be great music, playground fun and food and drinks available for purchase. Picnic baskets, lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
The movie will begin at dark on Saturday, July 16. Riverside Park is located at 575 Riverside Road, Roswell.
Attack of the killer tomato festival: Don't let the title scare you away. Enjoy a day of tomato-ey goodness with live music and tomato-based treats from dozens restaurants, including Alpharetta favorite Oak Steakhouse. The festival serves as a fundraiser for Georgia Organics. Organizers raised $60,000 for the cause at last year's fundraiser.
General admission is $45, $40 for Georgia Organics members and $75 for a Garnish and Gather ticket, which includes a general admission ticket and a G&G AKTF meal kit.
The festival will take place from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Park Tavern, located at 500 10th Street, Atlanta.
