Employees at The Corner Hot Foods Service in Atlanta need a sink inside the portable facility where they can wash up while prepping food.

They’ve been going next door into Bims Liquor Store and using a restroom sink instead, said a Fulton County health inspector.

The mobile food service unit is also missing a three-compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize dishes. The only sink inside was blocked by a container of food during the recent routine inspection.

The Corner Hot Foods Service, 1015 W. Marietta St., Atlanta, failed the routine inspection with a 48/U. It had previous scores of 100/A and 80/B.

Points were also taken off because the food service facility does not have its own water supply, though it is a fixed unit that does not move. The unit should be connected to the city of Atlanta water system, but is instead getting its water through a hose coming from the liquor store, the inspector said.

In other code violations, raw meat was not separated from vegetables and ready-to-eat foods in the freezer.

Food items re-wrapped in aluminum foil were not labeled by contents or with discard dates.

Other food packages were open and unprotected from contamination.

Utensils were being stored inside a bucket with soap and a sponge on the counter top.

Equipment surfaces, and the insides of the cooler and freezer were dirty and in need of cleaning. The entire interior of the food service unit needed cleaning, especially the floors underneath and behind the equipment, the inspector said.

The Corner Hot Foods Service will be re-inspected.
