Mold and ants reported at popular Gwinnett golf club's restaurant

Aug 15, 2016

The clubhouse restaurant at a popular Gwinnett County golf course failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting "mold-like build-up" and ants in the kitchen.

Hamilton Mill Golf Club, located at 1995 Hamilton Mill Parkway in Dacula, received a 65/U on the Thursday inspection.

According to the report, officials found an "ice bin with black mold-like substance inside it," as well as "ants throughout the kitchen." Beer taps also had "accumulation inside them" and a meat slicer had "old food debris on it."

In addition, inspectors noted several improperly cooled food items and no paper towels at either hand-washing sink in the kitchen. They also observed an employee "using a handwashing sink to fill a flower watering bucket."

Emails sent to officials at the golf club were not immediately returned Monday morning. A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Thursday's evaluation.

Hamilton Mill is at least the second Gwinnett-area golf club restaurant to fail a recent health inspection. On Aug. 3, the restaurant at Olde Atlanta Golf Club in Forsyth County scored a 47/U.
