Kennesaw has postponed its annual Christmas tree lighting due to rain after a record 42 bone-dry days.

The event was slated to start at 6 p.m. Tuesday. It has been pushed back to Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., the city announced on its website.

Mayor Derek Easterling, choral music and light refreshments were set to fill the hourlong program.

This is one of the holly jolly happenings that made it onto a list of 11 holiday events in Cobb County

Kennesaw will also host its annual yuletide parade that winds through the streets of downtown, A Day with Santa, on Dec. 3. Several roads will be closed because of that event.

If you still need a festive fix tonight, Smyrna is holding its "Coming Home for the Holidays" event.
