HarvestFest: Candy, craft show and carnival games on Marietta Square
If you don’t like fun, stay away from Marietta Square on Saturday.
If by chance you do like fun, there will be free candy, a scarecrow competition, and an arts and crafts show on the Square for this year's HarvestFest.
Maggi Moss, a supervisor with Marietta parks and recreation, said that from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be 45 vendors at the craft show, which will have all types of products: jewelry, pottery, metal work and more.
There will also be dog-specific vendors selling collars, bandannas, shirts and other canine crafts.
Moss said the event used to be called the “Harvest Square Arts and Crafts Festival” until 2015 when they added Halloween elements like tons of candy, announcement of the winners of the Square scarecrow contest and a Touch-A-Truck component.
The "Halloween Happenings" activities — including carnival games and a costume contest for children 12 and younger — will run from 1 to 5 p.m.
Moss said to look at 1:45 p.m. for the announcement of the winner of Scarecrows on The Square, an annual contest in which community organizations try to create the best scarecrows in downtown.
She said the touch-a-truck festivities go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include firetrucks, police cruisers, and vehicles from the transportation and roads management departments.
There will also be a pumpkin patch and face-painting for children throughout the day.
