Grant Park Farmers Market has never been open during the winter. But it will be this season.

Community Farmers Markets announced on Dec. 21 — the first day of winter — that the group will host the park's first Winter Farmers Market this year. The seasonal market will be open Sunday through April 2.

And now, a handful of days before opening day, it has announced a location change due to “permitting issues” with the city.

"The gracious folks at Eventide Brewing will be hosting Grant Park Farmers Market at their brewery, only a mile down the road (4 min drive) from the park," a Facebook post says. "Family friendly, INDOOR BATHROOMS (!!!), and the building will be open for you to hang out in if you're cold (but you'll have to wait until 12:30 when Eventide opens the tasting room to grab your after market beer)."

The winter market will be smaller than the regular market, down from about 40 to 45 vendors per week to 20 to 25, a spokeswoman said. It will include vendors such as Rag & Frass Farm, La Calavera Bakery, Riverview Farms, Revolution Doughnuts, Mad Mama Gourmet Soups, Golda Kombucha and Four Bellies Farm.

The decision to open during the colder months arose from listening to feedback, the group said on Facebook. The organization hopes to continue the Winter Market in future seasons.
