Gov. Nathan Deal announced on Tuesday ambitious plans for investing $10 billion over a decade in massive transportation projects that could reshape metro Atlanta.
The plan includes a multibillion-dollar expansion of I-285 and Ga. 400.
“We promised the people of the state of Georgia that we would show them results, and that is what we are doing here today," Gov. Deal said.
Plans that will affect Gwinnett County include:
- Reviving I-285 express lanes from I-75 to I-85
- Renovating existing I-85 express lanes that have been in use since October 2011
- Extending I-85 express lanes with 10 miles of new lanes from Old Peachtree Road to Hamilton Mill Road
- Widening I-85 North from Hamilton Mill Road to State Road 211
