Vacation season is in full-effect, and if you're looking to hit the highway, you don't have to travel too far. Georgia has been named one of the best states for summer road trips by WalletHub.

The personal finance site determined its ranking by analyzing the 50 states using 22 metrics including gas prices, quality of bridges and number of attractions. Those sections were filtered into three major categories: costs, safety and attractions.

Georgia was No. 13, overall. Oregon placed first and Utah second.

Although The Peach State had average safety and activities rankings, coming in at No. 27 for both, it was No. 2 on the costs list.

It also dominated on the lowest price for camping list, earning the No. 4 spot.

Georgia wasn’t the only Southern state to come out on top. North Carolina was No. 4, Louisiana was No. 5, Texas was No. 6 and Florida was No. 12, overall.
