A convention for romance novel lovers is real, and coming to Atlanta

A convention designed for lovers of romance novels — and subgenres including urban fantasy, erotica, young adult — is coming to Atlanta.

The RT Booklovers Convention will host more than 800 authors, including Atlanta natives Piper Huguley and Karin Slaughter. Authors from the online storytelling community Wattpad, including Anna Todd and Jakayla Toney, will also be on hand. (It doesn't look like "50 Shades of Grey" author E. L. James will be there, in case you're wondering.)

The 34th convention will also include more than 200 workshops and plenty of costume parties and social events, with names such as "City Chicks, Southern Belles & Bad Boys" and "Martinis, Dessert and Authors!"

More than 2,000 guests are expected to take over Hyatt Regency, the hotel known for hosting Dragon Con, from May 2 to May 7. The event, run by the online publication RT Book Reviews, is hosted at various locations internationally. This will be its first time in Atlanta.

Full registrations for readers costs $450 plus a $75 late fee and can be done at the hotel, 265 Peachtree St. NE. For those who want to attend the Giant Book Fair only, held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., it's $10 at the door.
