As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported, suburban Gwinnett County is encouraging dense, urban-style developments in some areas to create jobs, diversify its tax base and encourage redevelopment.
So what does that look like? These artist’s renderings show one developer’s idea. Ivy Creek Partners has proposed building a big mixed-use development on 16 acres near the Mall of Georgia in Buford. The renderings submitted to the county show how the development would look and where it’s located.
The development would include 217,170 square feet of retail space, including a grocery store and a family entertainment center. It also would include 91,200 square feet of offices, 352 apartments, 40 condominiums and a 250-room, 21-story hotel. The hotel would be the tallest building in Gwinnett, surpassing the 17-story Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta hotel on Pleasant Hill Road near Duluth.
