The University of West Georgia in Carrollton is holding a conference and sponsoring a gubernatorial debate this Friday to discuss the state’s water resource predicament.

The conference, entitled “Legal and Operational Challenges to Water Conservation in Georgia,” will feature state and national water experts. It costs $30, $20 for seniors and includes lunch.

The evening’s debate will focus on ways Georgia can resolve the two-decade long water war with Alabama and Florida while ensuring an adequate supply of water statewide. It’s free to the public.

As of Monday, candidates Carl Camon, DuBose Porter, Ray McBerry, John Oxendine, Austin Scott, David Poythress, Jeff Chapman, and Nathan Deal have signed up.
