The top officer at Southern Regional Medical Center will retire at the end of the year. Chief Executive Officer Jim Crissey, a 45-year veteran of the health care field, will be succeeded by Kim Ryan, the CEO at Eastside Medical in Snellville. Crissey had been at Southern Regional 15 years. Crissey’s departure comes on the heels of the county’s approval of a $50 million bailout plan to help the financially-strapped hospital. Ryan assumes the helm at Southern Regional on Oct. 12. She has 35 years of experience working for non-profit and for-profit hospitals.
