Tropical Storm Irma's strong winds have knocked down trees, closing some metro Atlanta roads, including Georgia 400 at Sidney Marcus Blvd.

Other major intersections closed include Piedmont Road at Pharr Road and East Paces Ferry Road at Lenox Road.

In Sandy Springs, a tree that came down on power lines closed Hammond Drive at Peachtree Dunwoody Road. All lanes of Hammond Drive are closed from the Ga. 400 North on-ramp to Concourse Parkway.

A tree also took down power lines at Riverside Drive and Dalrymple Road, but that road is now open.

Sandy Springs also reported road closures at Northside Drive and Garmon Road, where a tree came down, and at 580 Hammond Drive, near Lorrell Terrace, where a tree fell on a house.

Entrance to the Benton Woods neighborhood is blocked. Johnson Ferry Road is closed in both directions at Riverside Drive.

And at 400 Southbound at Northridge, just before the exit, a tree down is blocking most of the right-hand travel lane.

Trees were down in Atlanta, as well, closing roads.
