Consumers in Georgia could be certain fish and other food from their grocery store is fresh if a Milledgeville lawmaker has his way.

Rep. Rusty Kidd, an independent, is proposing to no longer let seafood be labeled as fresh if it has been frozen, thawed and then refrozen. A second proposal would prohibit any food that has been frozen to be labeled as fresh.

House bills 241 and 243 are now before the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee for review.
