Live Nation Atlanta, the mega promoter behind Music Midtown, donated $100,000 Wednesday to the city of Atlanta for capital improvement projects at Piedmont Park.

The support came as part of Live Nation Atlanta President Peter Conlon’s annual $400,000 contribution to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed’s Centers of Hope after school and youth development program. Live Nation has donated almost $2 million to the organization since 2009, Reed said Wednesday.

“That is outstanding generosity and it’s one of the reasons why I say they are such great partners,” Reed said of Live Nation. “This year Live Nation is increasing its community role by donating an additional $100,000 that will go toward capital improvements at Piedmont Park.”

Reed said Live Nation pays for all damages and any other remediation necessary for Piedmont Park after the greenspace plays host to Music Midtown, a two-day festival generally held in September.

“We are very careful because we know what a great place it is,” Conlon said efforts to protect the park.

Atlanta Parks and Recreation Commissioner Amy Phuong said details on capital improvements at Piedmont will be unveiled later this year.
