In 11 of the 16 states tracked by the Southern Regional Education Board, a majority of 2012 high school graduates took the ACT.

Of those 11 states, Georgia's average score of 20.7 out of a possible 36 was tied with Oklahoma for the top spot.

In all 16 SREB states, Delaware had the highest average score, 22.6, followed by Virginia at 22.4 and Maryland at 22.1.
