DeKalb County and Gas South announced Friday a $100,000 life insurance benefit for full-time police officers who die in the line of duty.

The policy for county police officers will be funded through DeKalb County’s existing partnership with Gas South, and Gas South is making additional contributions to cover all municipal and school officers.

The expanded life insurance policy is expected to include more than 1,000 officers throughout the county.
