A coalition of community activist groups said Thursday that they want the Cobb County Police Department’s command staff to be investigated because Capt. J.D. Adcock unilaterally reduced two traffic tickets to warnings after video surfaced of white officer Maurice Lawson telling the African American driver “I don’t care about your people.”

The Nov. 16 exchange between Lawson and middle school teacher Brian Baker was captured on dash board video. The department has determined Lawson violated the department’s code of conduct and will announce the disciplinary action him next week.
