A startup charter school is going to court to force inspections needed to open its doors to its students who’ve been shut out of the Riverdale school for nearly a week.

Utopian Academy for the Arts says the city of Riverdale has kept the school shuttered through a series of confusing requests and red tape. Utopian wants the court to order Riverdale to complete the paperwork and inspections so its 200 middle school students can start classes. The students were supposed to start Aug. 4. It is still unclear whether the school will open Monday, according Rob Fortson, the attorney for Utopian Academy.

Superior Court Judge Matthew O. Simmons will hear the case at 9 a.m. Monday.
