Tucked just off Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway on Atlanta’s westside, a crop of new townhomes are popping up — and beginning to sell.

The development from Brock Built, called the Oliver Street Townhomes, features 30 three-bedroom homes. At just shy of $400,000 a piece, the new construction represents the wave of gentrification westsiders have been wary of.

The rapid development of Atlanta's historically black westside neighborhoods prompted action from Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms recently when she placed a halt on new construction permits in the area surrounding the new Westside Park  — not far from the Oliver Street construction.

In recent years, westside natives like T.I. and Killer Mike have made efforts to improve the neighborhood for longtime residents and ensure they wouldn’t be edged out.

Earlier this year, the duo said they will reopen the neighborhood’s beloved restaurant, Bankhead Seafood along Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway  — formerly Bankhead Highway.

But there is no shortage of buyers for the new homes. According to Brock's website, many of the properties, still under construction, have already been purchased.

The developer’s website promotes the properties as being in “West Midtown,” which it calls “one of Atlanta’s most sought-after neighborhoods.”

The townhomes come in two different floor plans, both with three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. They range in size from 2,000 to 2,400 square feet and “boast a beautiful blend of modern and traditional architecture,” Brock’s website states.

The builder also bills the homes as being close to Midtown, downtown and the newly finished Westside Beltline Trail.
