Community conversation: All are invited to meet Moina Shaiq during Meet a Muslim, a community conversation that will allow people to pose questions and receive answers about Islam and the everyday life of a Muslim from 3-4:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Congregation Bet Haverim. Absalom Jones celebration: The Atlanta Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) will celebrate the life and service of Absalom Jones, the first African-American ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church, at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. This will be a Eucharist service, and the Honorable Clinton Deveaux, a retired judge of the Municipal Court of Atlanta, will deliver the sermon. Zumba class: To promote heart disease awareness during National Heart Health Month, a Zumba and Sh'Bam dance party will be held for beginners and advanced Zumba enthusiasts from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. Yoga and prayer: During Embodying Loving-kindness: Yoga and Prayer, Marie Hurley Blair, a 200-hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance; the Rev. Lynnsay A. Buehler; and Lea Robinson, a registered nurse, will lead participants in meditation, contemplative prayer and yoga. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. March 4 at St. Bede's Episcopal Church. A limited amount of yoga mats will be available, so guests should bring their own. Homelessness discussion: The Faith Committee of the Atlanta Homeless Continuum of Care will host presentations and workshops about the impact that faith-based organizations have on homelessness in Atlanta from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 9 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The keynote speaker will be Shawn Duncan from the Lupton Center; Cathryn Marchman, executive director of Partners for Home, the Atlanta Homeless Continuum of Care, will present a new strategic plan to reduce homelessness in Atlanta.
