POW
Wego, a 2-month-old neutered Chihuahua mix, is a wiggly, silly, adorable puppy who needs a home with adults only or older children (and no large, boisterous dogs) because he is tiny and fragile. We don’t know what Wego is mixed with, so we don’t know what his grown-up size will be, but he should remain pretty small. Wego will need daily walks, but will not need a lot of exercise. Chihuahuas are smart and trainable with positive methods. They can be harder to housebreak than larger breeds, but with patience and confinement, it shouldn’t take too long. Though they are small, Chihuahuas are still dogs, and need proper socialization and obedience training to be their best. They need to be kept safe from falling, being stepped on, roughhousing with larger dogs, and other hazards, but they also need to learn to walk on a leash and be able to safely experience the world as dogs — not purse accessories. They have reputations as nippers and yappers, but this is not how they behave if they are treated properly and trained. Well-socialized and trained Chihuahuas are wonderful lap dogs and affectionate companions. They do need to be kept warm in the winter. Wego will need further puppy vaccinations and a rabies shot. He has been microchipped and dewormed. He will be available at 2 p.m. today at the Atlanta Humane Society Howell Mill Campus, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. if more than one party is interested. Please note that the highest bidder must meet adoption qualifications.
