POW
Alli, a 9-month-old spayed terrier/sighthound mix, is a sweet adolescent dog who was adopted as a puppy and returned. She is active, and still a puppy in many ways, so she will do best in a home with older kids (or no kids — at least for now), and humans who will be able to exercise and stimulate her effectively. Alli is smart, trainable and will thrive on structure and leadership. Adopting an adolescent dog can have its challenges, but this fun dog will bond with you as well as any young puppy, and her housetraining shouldn’t take as long (the Atlanta Humane Society recommends crate training for all new adoptees to help with housetraining and general adaptation to a new environment). She knows a few commands already, but would benefit from more training. Despite her exuberance, Alli can be sensitive, and gets nervous in some situations (loud noises, boisterous children), though she is affectionate with people when she feels safe. Alli enjoys the company of other dogs as long as they are not too physical; she would enjoy living with a calm dog, or having known doggy friends to play with in small, controlled groups. She is not a candidate for the dog park, so a fenced yard will be a huge plus in exercising her. Bring any existing dogs and children to meet this active, affectionate girl who loves to give kisses, has really soft, luxurious short fur, and has the best ears ever. She will need a rabies shot; the cost is included in her adoption fee. Alli has been microchipped and dewormed. She will be available at 2 p.m. today at the Atlanta Humane Society Howell Mill Campus, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. if more than one party is interested. Please note that the highest bidder must meet adoption qualifications.
