More than a month after MomoCon canceled this year's event due to the coronavirus pandemic, organizers have decided to take the event online.

The four-day event called MomoConline will take place later this month and will feature panels and merchandise — much like the physical event would have.

“While 2020 has been a year of significant change, one thing we did not want to change was bringing you awesome panels and events and much more fun on Memorial Day Weekend!” the event description said.

“MomoCon goes virtual with MomoConline, May 21st – 24th! During the 4 days we will be featuring livestreamed panels and events on Twitch, exclusive merchandise on our MomoCon Shop, a community-focused Discord Server to interact with your fellow fans, an Online Cosplay Showcase and #MomoCosplayDay, and even an MomoCon-themed Animal Crossing Island and merchandise!”

Among the new commodities available online are 2020 hero and villain T-shirts and a MomoCon d6 dice set. You can also support vendors and artists, which MomoCon has been spotlighting on Twitter in recent weeks.

Other events include an official MomoConline Discord Community, online tournaments and table top games at Board Game Arena and a cosplay showcase, where participants can share their looks online using #MomoCosplayDay.

Organizers have also created a mini-MomoCon in the video game "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" with an official MomoCon Island.

Although the event will livestream on Twitch beginning May 21, virtual attendees don't have to wait until then for festivities to begin. There will be events leading up to MomoConline, including rebroadcasts and new panels from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. every Thursday and Saturday.

The next MomoCon is set to take place in person on May 27-30, 2021. Registration for the physical gathering is open now.
