Fireworks will light up the sky over the Marietta Square during the annual July 4th celebration.

That’s 22 minutes of boom, bang and whizzing whistles.

Even before the fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m., though, there are plenty of activities for families to enjoy.

About 80,000 people are expected to make their way through the square at some point during the day, said Maggi Moss, recreation supervisor for City of Marietta Parks, Recreation & Facilities.

The Marietta Freedom Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church, 774 Roswell Street in Marietta, and travels a mile-and-a-half route around the downtown area. It will include 110 entries.

At 2 p.m. there will be a bell-ringing event.

The featured entertainment is singer Madison Parks, who performs at 7 p.m.; and county music artist and Marietta native son, Zach Seabaugh, who performs at 8 p.m.
