Private Quarters

Attorney Jennifer LaFountaine loved stuffed animals so much as a child that she later named her cocker spaniel, Russ, in honor of the brand of those beloved plush toys.

But in creating the look for her new condo at One River Place, near the Chattahoochee River and Interstates 285 and 75, LaFountaine traded the stuffed animals for a more sophisticated style.

“I kind of think of it as my little retreat from the city,” said LaFountaine, who works in Midtown.

Resident: Jennifer LaFountaine, an attorney with Swift Currie McGhee & Hiers

Location: One River Place, Atlanta

Size: About 1,500 square feet, 2 bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths

Year built: 2009

Year bought: 2011

Interior design style: Modern contemporary

Interior designers: LaFountaine worked with interior decorator Karen Hopson to chose the color scheme and her mom, Kay LaFountaine, to select and place furniture in the condo.

Favorite interior design feature: Mirrored details, seen in furniture such as the chest and side table in the master bedroom and vases in the bedroom and kitchen. “I love the mirrored pieces. When I saw that, I was just like, ‘I have to have that.’”

Favorite change: Her custom master bedroom closet from California Closets. “I had grown so tired of just not having my closets organized. I felt like I deserved everything to be organized and have its own place,” she said. “I decided this was going to be my treat for myself.”

Favorite outdoor feature: The view from her condo and its balcony. “I face the tree line,” she said. “I just love that view because obviously in the spring, you’ve got the trees and everything that kind of looks very lush and beautiful.”
