Holiday markets, visit from Santa, even some ways to get some exercise while enjoying the holiday spirit. To help you plan your weekend, here are five things to do in or near Peachtree City.

Hometown Holiday. Santa is coming to City Hall Plaza. Children's activities, an appearance by Santa and live performances will occupy your imagination until the ceremonial lighting of Peachtree City's Christmas tree. Scheduled performers include Huddleston Elementary School Chorus, Music Alive, The Stage Music Academy, and Legacy Dance. 5 p.m. Dec. 6, 2014. City Hall Plaza, 151 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City. 5th Annual Downtown Fayetteville Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Saturday, Dec. 6. Event begins at 5:00 p.m. Gazebo on the square in downtown Fayetteville. Parade starts at 5 p.m. Tree lighting program begins immediately after parade. fayetteville-ga.gov
Tyrone Christmas Tree Lighting. Shamrock Park. Sunday, Dec. 7. Festivites begin at 4 p.m. Performances by local schools, churches, recreation classes, and businesses. Pictures with Santa Claus and his elves, face painting, cookies and hot chocolate. tyrone.org

"The Snow Queen." A new treatment of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," the fairy tale that provided the source material for Disney's computer-animated blockbuster, "Frozen."
