Many believe having a healthy diet means minimizing your salt intake. While that holds some truth, there are a few misconceptions about the spice that might surprise you.

According to nutritionist Andy Bellati, many think sea salt or pink Himalayan salt is healthier than table salt. However, that’s not true.

He also dispelled the myth that sweet-tasting foods aren’t loaded with tons of sodium. They can be. For example, a typical store-bought muffin has about the same amount of salt as 10 chicken nuggets.
