July 4th Barbecue Facts
- According to Statistic Brain, 80 percent of people attend a barbecue, picnic or cookout during Fourth of July.
- Data also revealed that 150 million hot dogs are consumed on that day each year. Additionally, Americans purchase 700 million pounds of chicken and 190 million pounds of red meat or pork in the week leading up to Independence Day.
You don't have to leave Atlanta to eat some of the nation's best barbecue, according to a recently released list.
Travel website CheapTickets.com named Atlanta as one of the top 10 barbecue destinations in the United States based on CheapTickets editors' picks and a nationwide survey.
The website's editors analyzed 150 travel markets and whittled that list down to 10, considering tips from local experts and personal experience in those cities, said Cassidy Smith, spokeswoman for CheapTickets.com.
The 10 cities were then sent out through a public survey, which 521 people across the country to rank.

This is the third year CheapTickets has conducted this survey. Atlanta placed eighth in 2015 and ninth in 2014.
