With a plethora of trails and parks, Atlanta is a great place to hit the outdoors for a run. In fact, the Peach City is one of the best U.S. cities for runners, according to a recent Runner's World study.
To determine the rankings, the fitness site analyzed the largest 250 metropolises in the county and identified five categories: the number of running stores and groups, the number of parks and fitness facilities, the type of climate, the number of healthy food options and the safety of the community.
While San Francisco took first place, Atlanta was among the top 40, coming in at No. 38.
Additionally, Atlanta was ranked No. 32 for running, No. 28 for parks, No. 82 for climate, No. 120 for food and No. 32 for safety.
The study listed Piedmont Park, Grant Park, Freedom Parkway, and the BeltLine as awesome places to "rack up mileage," and the Peachtree Road Race received an honorable mention.
