Things to Do
Show your lips some love this winter
Because nobody likes to look at, let alone kiss chapped lips, here are four remedies you may want to try.
I’ve used them all. Because I have a tendency to lose lip balms in the bottom of tote bags, under the seat of my car and in the pockets of seldom worn coats, I’m always buying lip balms.
They’re all fairly inexpensive and, except for the last one, all are available at pharmacies and mass retailers such as Target.
Kisses, dahlings.
- Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm is full of antioxidant-rich pomegranate oil. It's all natural, and it will leave a tiny amount of color on your lips. Expect to pay about $3.30 a tube at mass retailers. To find stores or shop online: www.burtsbees.com .
- Carmex Original Lip Moisturizing Balm. Personally, I like the slight menthol and camphor scent. Its serious scent makes me feel like it's doing serious work. Also, the applicator is great. The tube slides over your lips. About $6-ish for a three-pack. About $1.75-ish per tube. Prices depend on where you shop.
- Fragrance-free and enriched with shea butter, vitamins C and E, and soothing chamomile essence, Aquaphor Lip Repair is another good choice. About $4.30 a tube.
- Smith's Rosebud Salve isn't just good for chapped lips. You can use it on your elbows or knees to help with dry skin. Use it to soothe minor burns. And yes, you can use it for diaper rash, too! Slight rose scent. About $6 a tin. Available at Anthropologie (www.anthropologie.com to find a store) and Sephora (www.sephora.com to find a store). For more stores: www.rosebudperfume.com .
