The words of Isaiah and Jeremiah come to life in a one-man media presentation, “Prophets,” featuring Atlanta actor Brad Sherrill, at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in the  Sandy Springs Christian Church sanctuary. The 25th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Service will be at 10 a.m.  Jan. 17 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sanctuary, 407 Auburn Ave. N.E., Atlanta. Admission is free, but seating is limited. The keynote speaker will be Martin Luther King III. The service will be shown live on a video screen in the Martin Luther King Historic Site Rose Garden. Fields Chapel United Methodist Church in Canton is starting a new faith-based jobs ministry, Weathering the Storm, to help unemployed and underemployed people with their job search. The program will kick off with a one-day job search workshop on the church campus from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 29. The workshop will be led by a certified volunteer facilitator and will include materials published by Career Ministries Inc. After the workshop, biweekly support group meetings will be scheduled. The workshop is free, but a $30 donation will be accepted by those wishing to help cover the cost of materials. The sixth annual Taste of Torah will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 30 at Ahavath Achim Congregation, 600 Peachtree Battle Ave. N.W., Atlanta. Applications are being accepted for Kids4Peace 2011, an interfaith program connecting children from Jerusalem with kids from the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.
