Across metro Atlanta, communities are finding ways to celebrate 2020 graduates from a safe distance. A popular trend has been drive-thru graduations.

On Friday, Avalon in Alpharetta hosted a parade for graduates while blasting a special playlist and encouraging cheers from residents.

"Just because graduation looks a little different this year, we believe each grad deserves to be celebrated with the excitement and fanfare of a traditional ceremony," Lauren Ness, marketing manager at Avalon, told 11Alive.

The participating graduates were encouraged to paint their cars for the parade and were able to receive discounts from some Avalon businesses.

Elsewhere in metro Atlanta, some folks are celebrating graduates with special yard signs, photo ops and more.

Next week, the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta will celebrate this year's grads with a virtual ceremony. More information can be found here.
