Seasonal favorites return to Chick-fil-A in time for the holidays

5 things to know about... Chick-fil-A 1. Chick-fil-A was founded in 1946 by native Georgian S. Truett Cathy. After his death in 2014, his son Dan took over as Chick-fil-A Chairman, President and CEO. Chick-fil-A holds true to its metro Atlanta roots, maintaining its headquarters in suburban College Park, Ga. 2. Some may celebrate fall for the return of the PSL — or pumpkin spice latte, for the uninitiated — but others prefer to warm up with a savory bowl of soup and wash it down with a minty milkshake.

For those in the latter category, Chick-fil-A announced Tuesday that seasonal favorites Peppermint Chip Milkshake and Chicken Tortilla Soup are returning for a limited time in select restaurants across the nation.

“Every family has its own set of holiday traditions, and the Peppermint Chip Milkshake and Chicken Tortilla Soup have become annual traditions for our Chick-fil-A guests,” Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said in a statement.

“During a year when the way we celebrate may feel a bit different, we hope these two seasonal favorites will help bring a touch of familiarity.”

This year marks the eighth in a row that the Atlanta-based eatery has offered the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Served in a creamy white base with a mix of spices and vegetables, shredded chicken and navy black beans are the main stars of this dish.

The soup followed the 2008 introduction of the Peppermint Chip Milkshake. A seasonal take on Chick-fil-A’s handspun milkshakes, this minty dessert mixes the restaurant’s soft serve ice cream with peppermint bark chips and is topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.

Excitement over the return of the seasonal favorites is palpable as Twitter and Facebook users have shared their feelings on consuming the treat and the meal.

“I was so excited for these to come back!! I get so sad when they leave!! My local store has had the chicken tortilla soup for a few weeks now, but I told my husband I couldn’t have any until I had a peppermint milkshake to go along with it. So he surprised me yesterday!!” a customer wrote on Chick-fil-A’s official Facebook page.

Another person who was eager to get their hands on the shake commented, “Yay! I’ve been waiting! I even called Friday and they told me it would be a week or two til they came out.”
