Back in 2016, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the viral children’s song “Baby Shark.” If you had small children at the time it was practically inescapable.
Now, the song is set to become a movie, with an all-star cast that includes N’Sync’s Lance Bass, “High School Musical’s” Ashley Tisdale, “SNL’s” Chloe Fineman and, it was just announced, Cardi B, Offset, and their children Kulture and Wave.
“Happy to announce that me & my family will be in the BABY SHARKS BIG MOVIE,” Cardi B wrote in a tweet featuring the movie’s poster. This isn’t Cardi B’s first time encountering “Baby Shark” — and not just because she has children. She’s also used the song frequently in Instagram videos over the years.
The “Baby Shark” movie will follow Baby Shark and his family as they move to Chomp City. This move forces Baby Shark to adjust to his new environment while befriending little fishes along the way.
Baby Shark was launched by Pinkfong on YouTube in November 2015 and was the world’s first video to rack up 10 billion views on YouTube, making it the most-viewed video in YouTube’s history.
“‘Baby Shark’s Big Movie!’ is produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Calif., with production overseen by Eryk Casemiro, executive vice president, Nickelodeon Animation, global series content,” according to a release from Paramount+.
While “Baby Shark’s Big Movie” has no set release date, according to PEOPLE, it will be released during the holiday season 2023.
