“Welcome to the Club” Grady babies.
The Atlanta Hawks launched the "Hawks Baby Club," Wednesday at the Women's Center of Grady Health System. Starting today, all Grady Health System newborns will receive a "Welcome to the Club" package: a Hawks onesie, Hawks blanket and a Hawks-branded certificate detailing the child's name, weight, time of birth - signed by Harry the Hawk.
Hawks rookie forward Taurean Prince along with several families with babies were recently born at Grady were in attendance. The "Welcome to the Club Kits" will be given to an estimated 3,000-plus babies born annually at Grady, getting an early start in developing life-long bonds to the hometown NBA team.
“There is no more ‘True to Atlanta’ moment than being born a ‘Grady Baby’ at this iconic hospital,” said Steve Koonin, CEO of the Hawks and Philips Arena in a press release. “The Hawks and Grady have long been allies and the next phase in our partnership looks to the future, cheering on a new generation with hope, health and endless potential.”
Many children may fall in love with their sports team young. For these newborns, their first piece of sports apparel will come right at the hospital. Both the adorable onesies and blankets are 100 percent cotton and adorned in red and gray colors.
On hand from Grady Health System for the ceremony were Lindsay Caulfield, Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs and Dr. Jackie Herd, Chief Nursing Officer, along with who unveiled the kits and introduced items to the families with children. Along with the Hawks Baby Club, the partnership between the two will include two in-arena Hawks Baby Races sponsored by Grady. The first race will take place at the Jan. 15 game when the Hawks take on the Bucks.
The partnership is also designed to put a spotlight on the recently renovated Women’s Center.
“We have enjoyed a long standing partnership with the Atlanta Hawks and today it reaches an exciting new level. As we celebrate this exclusive new program, we also celebrate Grady's new state-of-the-art women's center that provides expert care from prenatal services to delivery, to high-risk pregnancies and their special needs, including the state's only Obstetric ICU and a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” said Lindsay Caulfield, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs for Grady Health System said in a press release.
