Hey Atlanta moms, remember the moms' night out concept?
Even if you can't get away on a hectic weekend, it's time to start scheduling some fun with the other mothers.
Make plans to skip PTA this once and go for a weeknight moms' night in Atlanta: wine optional, fun inevitable.
Painting with a Twist
7 p.m.-9 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and (occasionally) Tuesdays
Two-hour classes $35, three hour classes $45
2140 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. 404-369-3577
Enjoy creating your own works of art for a change, glass of wine in hand. These BYOB classes are for ages 21 and up, too, so there's no chance of having to hang out with someone else's kids when you've finally managed to stop worrying about your own for a few hours.
Whole World Improv Theatre Thursdays
1216 Spring St. NW, Atlanta. 404-817-7529
Laugh out loud come Thursday instead of just typing it on your Facebook screen all the time. Whole World Improv Theatre is free for ladies who walk up to the ticket window 7 p.m-7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Gather the group for some juvenile humor that doesn't involve actual kids and be done in time to catch the nightly news when you get home.
Cakes and Ale Cafe and Wine Bar
151 Sycamore St., Decatur, 404-377-7994
When you need a little (okay, a lot) more adult conversation, gather here on Tuesdays and share entire bottles of wine at a great price. Adjacent to Cakes & Ale restaurant, the cafe has a wine shop that sells retail and serves wine flights in the wine bar. Cool deal on Tuesdays: no corkage fee when you buy a bottle at the wine shop and then drink it at the cafe.
Brainstormer Pub Quiz at Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant
273 Buckhead Ave., Atlanta. 404-841-0066
The motto at Fado's is "Food, drink, banter" and what busy parent has enough of that in her life? Between 4-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, enjoy $6 snacks and $6 drink specials. Stay till 8 p.m. Wednesdays for free Pub Quiz team trivia. It's a great chance to show off things you did and did not learn while helping with homework.
Mother Bar & Restaurant Taco Tuesdays
447 Edgewood Ave. SE, Atlanta
A mom-schedule by definition requires getting rowdy as time allows. If that means Tuesday evenings are the easiest time to toss responsibility to the wind, head for Mother's. On Tuesdays, you can chow down on $2 tacos, chase them with $2 tequila shots and have plenty of party budget left over to pay the sitter.
