Christian author Anne Lamott on understanding mercy

Author Anne Lamott will discuss her new book, "Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy" at 7 p.m. April 8 at Central Presbyterian Church.

In her latest, the bestselling Christian author explores the concept of mercy, why people ignore it and how can they embrace it.

Lamott is a well-respected author and a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.

She is the author of other popular books including “Bird by Bird", “Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith",  and  “Stitches: A Handbook on Healing, Hope and Repair.”

Tickets range from $20 to $30 and includes the book.

The church is located at 201 Washington St. S.W.

Parking is available at the Georgia Department of Public Safety garage, 180 Central Ave. S.W.

The book signing and discussion is sponsored by Charis Books, Charis Circle, and Central Presbyterian.

About the Author

Shelia has worked at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for more than 30 years. Previously, she worked at The Lexington Herald-Leader and The Louisville Defender. Her beat is a bit of a mixed bag that includes religion and spirituality, culture and trends, race and aging. She earned degrees from Spelman College and Northwestern University.
