The time has come to drop everything and devote endless hours to treating yourself. Correction: Treat yo' self.

The tradition of Treat Yo' Self Day began with fictional characters Tom Haverford, played by Aziz Ansari, and Donna Meagle, played by Retta, designating Oct. 13, 2011, to enjoying lavish, comforting indulgences in an episode of NBC's "Parks and Recreation."

In the episode, the characters —in unison—proclaim that  Oct. 13 is the best day of the year and should be celebrated with fragrances, massages and more.

Since the episode aired, fans of the show and folks that simply have a penchant for self-love have brought the fictional day to real life.
