Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill made the announcement on Facebook Saturday.

"When Shaquille O’ Neal raised his hands to be sworn in by 'the crime figter,' he became the tallest deputy in the history of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office!" Hill posted. "Welcome to the crime fighting family, Shaq!!"

It’s unclear if the post is ceremonial or if Shaq will actually be escorting prisoners, directing traffic or performing other law-enforcement duties.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
