Atlanta hip-hop star Gucci Mane is back in the news after a nearly four-month hiatus from the headlines.

The popular rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, is being sued by a concert promoter wanting to recoup a $10,000 deposit for a 2009 show the performer missed.

The promoter, Calvin L. Erby II, had booked Davis for an April 5, 2009 show at Philips Arena that also featured the rapper Young Jeezy. But because of rumors of a dispute between the two artists and the threat of a physical altercation and the chance of bloodshed between the two camps, Davis and his management team agreed with Erby not to put Davis in the show, according to the lawsuit that was filed early this month in Clayton County State Court.

But Davis and his former company So Icey Entertainment, Inc., and his former management team Mizay Entertainment, Inc., owned by co-defendant Debra Antney, never repaid the deposit, according to the complaint.

"After numerous requests, the defendants have yet to return the $10,000 given to them for Mr. Davis' performance and the ability to reschedule has been hindered over the last two years by Mr. Davis' continued incarceration," the lawsuit says.

Davis has been jailed several times over the past few years on charges ranging from assault in a claim that he beat up a man at an Atlanta party in March 2013, and federal gun charges accusing him of pulling his weapon on police on two separate occasions in September.

Trial for the federal gun charges was postponed from its original Tuesday start date, and Davis' attorney Drew Findling said in federal court documents filed earlier this month that he was negotiating with federal prosecutors over a resolution.

Davis publicly split with Antney and sued her and her son, Juaquin Malphurs who is also known as rapper Waka Flocka Flame, suing them in November claiming breach of contract.

And Davis was named in December as a defendant in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the father of his hip-hop protege, Mario "Slim Dunkin" Hamilton, who was shot to death in 2011 while filming a music video with Davis.
