Voletta Wallace, the mother of late rapper Christopher "Biggie" Smalls, recently talked with Essence magazine about the making of the new biopic about her son, "Notorious," which Wallace helped co-produce.

In the interview, Wallace says, "I saw a side of my son that I heard of but I haven't accepted. I'm angered by certain things, disappointed and shocked."

She also described how she would like to meet Lil' Kim and learn more about her son's behavior.

"I would love to speak to Lil' Kim, because I need to ask more about this love relationship, because I really didn't like the way he treated her and I'm praying that that's not it."

She calls Lil' Kim "a sweet girl" and says, "I didn't think she deserved to be treated the way he treated her, if that's the case."

Smalls, who was murdered in 1997, is played by newcomer Jamal Woolard, and Angela Bassett plays the role of Wallace in the film.

"I said, if there was anyone who was going to play Voletta Wallace, I wanted Angela Bassett," whom Wallace calls "gracious and humble."
