Disney child star Michael Galeota died Sunday, according to family members. He was 31 years old.

"It is with tremendous heartfelt sadness to announce the passing of Michael James Galeota on January 10th," family members wrote on a GoFundMe page started by Galeota's brother.

“He was a precious gift – loving, giving, compassionate, joyful and intelligent. A great inspiration for anyone that heard his genuine, humble, witty and joyful voice, or experienced his smile, laughter and love for just a moment. To know him was to love him.”

Galeota died at his home in Glendale, California, according to family members. His death appeared to be of natural causes.

Galeota suffered abdominal pains that sent him to a doctor a week before his death, according to TMZ. He reportedly left the hospital against doctors' advice.

He had a history of hypertension, high cholesterol and a digestive tract inflammation called diverticulitis, TMZ said.

Galeota played the lead character, Nick Lighter, in the Disney Channel's “The Jersey.” The show aired from 1999 to 2004.
