Geraldo Rivera’s take on what a woman brings to a marriage has been met with a firestorm of criticism.

Rivera made the comments during an appearance on the Fox News show, “Outnumbered.” The topic of discussion was beta marriages, a concept where a trial marriage is formed for a two-year period.

Surrounded by four female hosts, Rivera said that what a woman brings the most to a marriage is her youth.

Rivera opined that, “Her youth is a fragile and diminishing resource.”  In Rivera’s opinion, beta marriages did not benefit women.

Rivera is sticking by his controversial statements.

As Huffington Post points out, Rivera did admit to being divorced four times. His current marriage has lasted 11 years, and he also has three daughters.
