An emotional performance Thursday night by “American Idol” Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson brought the show's judges to tears as they kicked off the first of the season's live broadcasts.

Clarkson performed her single “Piece by Piece,” a song about an absentee father, for the talent show's final season.

At times her voice broke as judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. watched attentively. As cameras rolled Urban openly cried.

“My goodness, I'm pregnant and it's nostalgic and I can't believe it's the last season,” she told host Ryan Seacrest after her performance. “Yeah, really sorry, I just bawled.”

Clarkson is eight months pregnant with her second child, a son.

She told Seacrest her song “Piece by Piece” was a particularly emotional one to sing.

“It's just a touching song for me because I wrote about my little girl and I was pregnant,” she said. “Now I'm pregnant with my little boy -- which I hope comes out very soon.”
