Ford Fry’s Abattoir takeover
Last week, after chef/owner Anne Quatrano announced that Abattoir would shut its doors after dinner service on March 28, Ford Fry's Rocket Farm Restaurants group confirmed that it will soon be taking over. "Yes indeed, our empire builder is taking the space," said Rocket Farm's PR director Valerie Mosley. Fry has been named a 2015 James Beard Awards Outstanding Restaurateur semifinalist. Manuel’s Tavern redevelopment
Manuel's Properties is selling about 1.6 acres in Poncey-Highland, including the Manuel's Tavern building. But the Atlanta landmark bar and restaurant will be refurbished while continuing to be operated by the Maloof family. Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter J. Scott Trubey reports that Manuel's plans to close next year for extensive renovations that will coincide with construction of a large mixed-use development by developer Green Street Properties. 602 N. Kevin Gillespie’s cookbook party
Atlanta chef, restaurateur and "Top Chef" alum Kevin Gillespie is hosting a release party for his second cookbook, "Pure Pork Awesomeness: Totally Cookable Recipes From Around the World," which hits shelves on March 31.
