Everyone loves a good margarita with their Mexican fare, but what about when you want to break out of that cycle of "salt, or no salt?", "frozen, or on the rocks?" We did the hard work of drinking our way through the city to find the 5 best cocktails to sip on today that will go perfectly with the tacos and queso that you'll be devouring all summer long.
Whether you love to sip cocktails or beer, we find the perfect restaurants to enjoy at Atlanta Eats. Check us out every weekend on Peachtree TV. We air every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30. You'll have plenty of time to make your dinner plans for that night! Come hungry...and thirsty!
Bartaco - Sashito
Head over to Bartaco on the West Side for the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness with the Sashito. It's made with Campari, orange liquer, watermelon, lemon juice and bitters. Order a few baja tacos, grab a seat on the beach-like patio and suddenly you're on vacation.
Superica - Texas Star
Ford Fry's latest hot spot in Krog Street Market is hitting it on every level. Queso fundido, nachos that have us dreaming about the next visit, and an incredibly well done cocktail program. Of course, you'll get perfectly made margaritas here, but give the Texas Star a shot. Centennario Rosangel, St. Germain, ruby red grapefruit and lime juice combine for a refreshing cocktail that has just the right amount of kick. If you want something a little more adventurous, why not add some olives to the mix with the Superita? It's Herradura Double Reposado, Royal Combier, lime juice, orange juice, salt, and citrus marinated olives, served up, Texas-style.
The Original El Taco - Frozen Mojito
We get it, tequila is not for everybody. Sometimes you want a frozen drink that hearkens to lazy days by the pool where the only decision is what music to listen to. When that's our state of mind, it's off the Original El Taco we go. After a few spins of the wheel, and an order of queso royale, we dive into a frozen mojito. And it's just what it sounds like - rum, mint and lime, blended and served frozen.
The Pinewood - Bebida De Los Muertos
The Pinewood in Decatur has a cocktail list that is heads above almost anywhere else in Atlanta. Julian is a force to be reckoned with behind the bar and there is no way you're leaving without a great cocktail. For a little taste of Mexican flavors, go with the Bebida De Los Muertos; Olmeca Altos Tequila, Cocchi Americano, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, Lemon, Red Pepper, and Hopped-Grapefruit Bitters. It's spicy. It's bitter. It's perfect.
