The South knows BBQ; it's just fact. As a population that has grown up on barbecued (NOT grilled) meats, we have some mighty big opinions on what makes it great. From sides to pulled pork to smokey chicken, it's all fodder for debate. One BBQ item that spurs the most debate is the glorious rib. Giant beef ribs to tender pork - it's all fair game. It's also one of the best parts of being a carnivore. What makes a great rib? You have smoke, you have char and it should not be falling off the bone. Now, who makes a great rib? We've put together some of the best we've seen on Atlanta Eats.

Fox Bros BBQ
Candler Park is holding some seriously good BBQ. The brothers from Texas cook up giant brontosaurus sized beef ribs with a peppery rub. Pair them with a local brew and some fried okra for a seriously great patio meal.

Greater Good BBQ
On Roswell Road, right next to Chastain Park, there exists an unassuming building that you have probably driven by dozens of times. What's inside though, is BBQ definitely worth the stop. And don't miss our on the potato skins stuffed with BBQ and pimento cheese!

Swallow at the Hollow
Up in Roswell on Green Street there is a shack doing right by barbecue. Baby back ribs are slathered in sauce and cooked over hot coals. Your hands will be sticky and you'll go through an entire roll of paper towels wiping your face, but it will be with a grin on your face.
