Long time Eagles' manager Irving Azoff is heartbroken and can't believe Glenn Frey is gone.
Once Frey's death was announced Monday, The Eagles released a statement on their website that said "Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia."
But Azoff told The Wrap that "the colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds. He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years."
Azoff said that Frey's illness varied. "One day his knees would hurt, his hands hurt,” Azoff said. "(It) moved from joint to joint."
When he was asked to specify the drug, Azoff declined and said his attorney counseled him against doing so.
One of the toughest and most successful agents in the business, Azoff said that Frey taught him much of what he knows. "I wouldn't have been the success that I've been without Glenn Frey teaching me, leading me and supporting me for over 40 years," he said. "He was a passionate family man, a great father, a great humanitarian, and he's gone way too soon."
